The Noble Research Institution, LLC is seeking a Research Associate to join the Legumes and Cover Crop Breeding program. The Research Associate will work on breeding projects to improve legume and cover crop forages (i.e. hairy vetch, annual medics and/or crimson clover) for cover crop production. The primary activities include field, greenhouse and laboratory works on characterizing germplasm and populations, evaluating experimental trials and advancing breeding cycles. Research will be conducted in the laboratory of Dr. Suresh Bhamidimarri.
This temporary position is funded through a grant from the Foundation for Food and Agricultural Research. Funding is anticipated to be renewed annually based upon performance and funding availability and is scheduled to end on or before February 28, 2022.

The incumbent will perform a wide range of duties in the field, greenhouse and lab, which may include but are not limited to seed cleaning, preparing, planting, making cross and selection, maintaining and evaluating experimental plots, collecting samples for genotyping, data collection and analysis, project management and coordination, and writing reports.
Bachelor degree in plant breeding, agronomy or related field is required in addition to excellent written and oral communication skills; Master degree and experience in phenotyping, genotyping and data analysis is preferred. The successful candidate should be self-motivated to work independently and also be a good team member.
Because of the physical demands of this position, the selected candidate will be required to successfully complete a work steps test.
